Running any successful business is complex. Running a successful nonprofit can be even harder.

We keep it simple.

We will work with you to define and delineate your mission. Then we will tailor your programs, fundraising, and administrative systems, and governance structure to pursue that mission. This allows the organization and its leaders to remain focused, centered, and prepared to capitalize on opportunity or respond to challenge.

If every action ties coherently back to your mission, you’ll never have to manage extraneous systems or complexities.

I was so excited when I landed my first executive director position. I had a million ideas. But I quickly learned that on the inside, my organization was not the neat and efficient little entity that I had seen from the outside.

It was more like a sea monster that couldn’t stop growing new tentacles to reach for passing prey. Every time a new idea came along it became a new program. It required a new grant, new paperwork, new software with new monthly fee and new password, new oversight, more administration. Eventually, the sea monster grew so many tentacles that its under-developed body could no longer support them.

We didn’t fail. But we did have to change. We had to figure out our strengths, define our goals, and remake our organization so that it could do what matters.

Over time, I came to love the challenge of optimizing organizations toward their missions. I’ve made that my own mission and have worked with organizations of many shapes, sizes, and configurations to become the most coherent and effective versions of themselves.

Together, we can align the mission with the governance model, the org chart, the program assortment, and the development plan so they they integrate seamlessly into a coherent whole.
